he Mumbai to Goa cruise ferry is finally happening and is expected to start its operations by the end of February. So if you and your friends have been planning a trip to Goa, you better wait till the end of this month for its gonna be one hell of an experience!
Although the service was expected to launch in December, as per the chairman of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) “The delay is mainly because of certification and that the vessel is being readied. IRS and DG shipping clearances are pending. These formalities have to be completed,”
Other causes of the Mumbai to Goa cruise ferry delay which was scheduled to launch by December include time taken due in commencing trial runs, delay in obtaining dry docking permissions in Mumbai and modification of the on-board safety apparatus among others.
Mumbai To Goa Cruise Ferry Details
The Mumbai to Goa luxury cruise ferry will have a capacity of 400 passengers and prices are expected to fixed at INR 5000 per night (excluding food and other services on board). The duration would be of 16 hours and the cruise will sail from the domestic cruise terminal at Mazgaon and will have stops in Dighi in Raigad, Dabhol and Jaigad in Ratnagiri district, Vijaydurg and Malvan before finally docking at Panjim. When it comes to operations, the luxury cruise will run all round the year except for the four months of monsoon.
Considering this is a luxury cruise for people who truly want to experience the Arabian Sea, there are high hopes that it will again revive the busy route that was so active during the 60’s and 90’s.
